Economy ministry preparing new package to counter looming US sanctions

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) – The newly-elected economy minister says that the ministry is preparing a package to counter the new set of US sanctions that are coming to effect Nov. 4. while adding that the sanctions have already been imposed on the country and nothing is remaining.

Farhad Dejpasand, who was elected by the lawmakers in the Iranian Parliament with high yes vote yesterday afternoon as the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance told ‘Tehran Radio’ this morning that the first measure that will be taken is economic finance, second improving the employment atmosphere through easing customs duties. The third measure, the economy minister said, is going ahead with privatization policies in accordance with the article 44 in Iranian constitution, and finally, was fight against corruption through using automated system, as corruption can cripple the economy.

Dejpasand went on to stress the need for providing housing to the poor through giving them housing loans.

He said that the enemies are seeking to wage a psychological warfare as the new round of US sanctions on Iran oil sale and its access to US dollar are going to take effect on November 4, saying that through unity among different branches of the Iranian establishment, the crisis could be overcome.

Meanwhile, the minister noted that the sanctions that are planned to come into effect on November have already been imposed and nothing is remaining of them to be implemented.

In response to a question how has Iran reacted to the US Treasury’s action in tasking a special group for Iran, he said that the Supreme Economic Coordination Council has been established in line with the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Khamenei. He added they the council is following up on the enemies’ plots and is preparing packages to confront the conspiracies.

Dejpasand said that the economy ministry will announce its special mechanisms.
