Iran central bank says inflation rate rose to 15.9% during 1st month of fall

TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (MNA) – The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has announced that the inflation rate for the 12 month leading to the start of fall rose to 15.9% compared to the same period last year.

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced on Saturday that inflation rates during the Iranian month of Mehr (beginning on 23rd of Sep. and ending on 22nd of Oct.) compared to the month before namely Shahrivar for food and beverage group was 5.9%; tobacco and cigarettes 17.5%; clothing and shoes 9.5%; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 0.9%; and house appliances 12.9%.

The rates for health groups was 2.2%, transport services 3.1%, communications 4.6%, entertainment and cultural affairs 7%, education 9.8%, restaurants and hotels 4.6%.

Overall, the inflation rate in Mehr compared to the moth before for goods categories increased by 6.9% while for services rose by 1.8%.

Compared to the same month last year, the inflation rate rose by 36.9% in Mehr.
