Iranian team advances to final of Asian Club Volleyball C’ship

TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – Iran’s Khatam Ardakan defeated their Vietnamese rival and secured berth in the final match of 2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.

In a Sunday match at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, Khatam Ardakan gained another 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) win over Vietnam’s Sanest Khanh Hoa in the semifinal of the competition.

2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship kicked off on July 31 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar and will wrap up on August 6.

Iranian representative will face Kazakhstan’s Atyrau VC in the final on Monday at 18:30 PM, Myanmar’s local time. The two teams had held a match in the group stage where Khatam Ardakan managed to earn a 3-1 victory.

“Vietnam has a good team fighting for every ball and they have a good teamwork. They came up with good serves and were successful in combination and attacks. They played better than us in the second set, but when we lost our rhythm, I told my players that they are more experienced and could beat the rivals. My players believed in what I told them and that’s what counts for the win. In the final clash, we will play either Kazakhstan or Pakistan. Both teams are strong sides heading to semi-finals. However, I think we are stronger. We have players from the Iran national team and our players competed in several major tournaments before. We set our sights on winning the Asian title and we will fight for every point in the final,” Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) website quoted Khatam Ardakan head coach Abbasali Mirhosseini as saying after the match.
