Iran managed to reach the quarterfinals but was defeated by Sweden on Saturday and continued competition for 5-8 ranks. The team suffered another 0-2 loss (9-18, 12-20) to Spain and was sent to 7-8 place playoff.
On Sunday match, Iranian squad faced Denmark in their last match and lost it 0-2 (14-21, 20-23). Accordingly, Iran which had managed to advance to the quarterfinal for the first time in their history, finished 2018 Men’s Beach Handball World Championships with 8th rank.
The final of Men’s category will be held between reigning champion Croatia and Brazil. Also, Hungary and Sweden will fight for the bronze medal.
Both Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships kicked off on July 24 at the Kazan Beach Sports Complex and will end on July 29.
