Iran’s junior handball team stopped by Japan

TEHRAN, Jul. 21 (MNA) – Iran-Japan match in the quarter final of Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship ended with 19-19 draw.

Iranian squad lost the first half 9-5 to East-Asian team but had a great comeback in the second half when they pulled up by 3 points. However, the match finished with 19-19 draw.

Iran will face Qatar in the second match of quarter finals. Qatar has lost its previous match to Saudi Arabia and will desperately fight for a win. Iran, too, needs a win to advance to the semifinal. The final match of Iran in this round will be against Saudi Arabia.

Iranian squad beat India, Yemen and Oman in group stage competitions. 

Scoring 123 goals, Iran has the most powerful attacking line of this event so far.

The 16th edition of the Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship started on July 15 in Salalah, Oman and will wrap up on July 25, 2018.

The first to third teams in the Asian competitions will qualify for the World competitions in Spain next year.
