Envoy refutes claims of Iran forces in south Syria

TEHRAN, May 23 (MNA) – Iranian Ambassador to Jordan Mojtaba Ferdosipour refuted claims about Iran’s setting up forces in Southern Syria.

Rejecting claims about Iran’s forces in Southern Syria, he said that Iran is not involved in Ghouta conflicts, Alghad daily newspaper reported.

If talks between Syria and the opposition groups in southern regions fail, it is possible that the Syrian army carry out a military operation with Russia in the region, he added.

He emphasized that Iran has always supported the issue of the Syrian army’s having control of its borders with Jordan.

Touching on Iran’s presence in Syria, the Iranian diplomat added that this is part of the Syrian government's request to support its army in confronting terrorism and stabilizing the country.
