Read Admiral Ali Shamkhani made the remarks at the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues which is underway in Russia’s Sochi on April 25-26.
Shamkhani rejected any possible agreements between European countries and the United States on the future of the nuclear deal with Iran known as the JCPOA, saying that for Iran any agreements of such kind would be invalid and worthless, calling on all the parties to live up to their commitments.
He added “I assure you their dreams will never come true,” adding that renegotiating Iran’s nuclear activities would mean the collapse of the JCPOA.
Shamkhani lashed out at Trump administration for violating the nuclear deal, saying Trump not only violates the JCPOA but also other US agreements.
In another part of his remarks, the Iranian top security official condemned the Western countries arms sales to the countries in the Middle East, saying the United States has turned the region into a ‘powder Keg.’
He called on countries to avoid war and violence, saying their natural resources and incomes should be spent on development and eradicating poverty instead of arms races.
Shamkhani noted the countries should form coalitions for peace, friendship and brotherhood not coalitions for war and violence.
The Iranian top security official condemned Donald Trump’s move in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli regime, saying that move would fan the flames of hostility in Palestine.
With regard to Afghanistan situation, Shmakhani called finding a solution to the crisis as any civil wars could spill over to other countries and pave the way for increasing terrorism.
Regarding Syria and Iraq, he said that terrorism is the only party that there could not be any negotiations with, calling for collective fight against it.
He said that the legitimate governments of Iraq and Syria should be strengthened against terrorism by the countries in the region, adding that no one should be allowed to violate territorial integrity and sovereignty of those war-torn countries.
“The Asian continent, and in particular Western Asia, need a structure and mechanism for political, security and military cooperation so that it can solve disputes and distinguish flames of war without foreign interference,” the Iranian top security official said.
At the end, the SNSC secretary expressed Iran’s readiness to work with the others to exchange views on the international security challenges and find solutions to tackle security crises.
