“It is a total mistake to pre-suppose that Iran will remain committed to the JCPOA under any circumstances,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi in response to what Americans say that Iran will have no other choice but to keep abiding by the JCPOA after the breaking of the deal by US.
The Iranian senior diplomat made the remarks on Thursday while meeting with Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide in Oslo where he attended the 8th edition of Iran-Norway political consultations meetings.
“Any move to link the JCPOA with other issues is based on wrong approaches and will complicate the situation in the region,” said Mr. Araghchi.
He underlined the importance of the JCPOA to expand and develop cooperation and bilateral interactions and added, “The JCPOA is a big achievement of diplomacy at the international scene and it is unfortunately in danger because of challenges and obstructions set up by the Trump administration,” highlighted the Iranian senior diplomat.
In this meeting, the Norwegian foreign minister for her part, attached great importance to bilateral ties of Iran and Norway and asserted, “Norway supports the continuation and implementation of the JCPOA strongly.”
“There is no better option than the JCPOA and to keep this agreement alive, it is necessary to spare no efforts,” reiterated Ms. Eriksen Søreide.
