Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in New York on Thursday local time on a six-day stay in US where he is slated to attend a UN Meeting on Peace-building and Sustaining Peace in April 24-25.

The meeting is being held upon the proposal of Miroslav Lajčák, the current President of the United Nations General Assembly, at the level of presidents, prime ministers, and foreign ministers. Mr. Zarif is expected to address the event on Tuesday April 24.

In addition to holding bilateral meetings with the officials of other participating countries, the Iranian diplomatic chief is also scheduled to address US Council on Foreign Relations, Iranian media outlets reported on Monday April 23. António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Miroslav Lajčák are among the figures Mr. Zarif is going to have bilateral meeting with.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi is among the people accompanying the Iranian foreign minister in the visit to US. In addition to Mr. Araghchi, Gholam Hossein Dehghani and Mohammad Kazem Sajjadpour also accompany Mr. Zarif.

According to the reports, Mr. Zarif will discuss the latest regional developments in particular Syrian and Yemeni crisis as well as Iran’s nuclear deal during the visit.
