Jaberi, Jaafari confer on Astana talks agenda prior to 7th round

TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari met with Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari in Astana on Monday.

Mr. Ansari and Mr. Jaafari both head the diplomatic delegations of their respective countries in Astana talks.

Diplomatic delegations from Iran, Russia, Turkey, and Syria along with the representatives of Syrian opposition groups have convened in Kazakh capital city of Astana to form the 7th round of talks aimed to reach a political settlement for Syrian crisis.

The latest field developments, supervision over de-escalation zones in Syria, and the documents and agenda of the 7th edition of Astana talks were conferred on by Iranian and Syrian diplomats, during the meeting.

The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, who is not participating in the seventh international Astana meeting on resolving the situation in Syria, announced on Thursday that a new round of talks aimed at ending the Syrian crisis will open in a month’s time.

The seventh international meeting on Syria, currently underway in Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana, kicked on Monday with the aim to reach agreements between the negotiating parties on the two issues that have not been finalized during the previous six rounds – exchange of prisoners and demining conflict zones.
