Iranian, Russian FMs hold phone talks

TEHRAN, Oct. 31 (MNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have discussed issues of mutual interest in a phone conversation on Tuesday.

The Tuesday phone call came ahead of a trilateral meeting between the presidents of Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan Republic in Tehran mainly aimed at follow-up discussions on the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) that was previously discussed between the three sides back in August 2016 in Baku.

The phone call also came as Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari headed a diplomatic delegation to Astana for bilateral and trilateral talks with his Russian and Turkish counterparts within the framework of the seventh international meeting on Syria settlement.
