Zarif to head senior politics-economy delegation to S Africa

TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (MNA) – Iran Foreign Minister Zarif will leave Tehran at the head of a ranking politics and economy delegation to South Africa, said FM Spox Bahram Ghasemi on Saturday.

The Spokesman of Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs broke the news on Saturday recounting that Iranian top diplomat is making the visit upon the invitation of his South African counterpart.

According to the spokesman, during his stay in South Africa, Mr. Zarif is slated to meet with a number of South African officials to exchange view with, like the president as well as the finance minister.

The diplomat added that attending the 13th edition of the meeting of the joint commission of Iran-South Africa is also on the agenda of Mr. Zarif visit to the African country. The meetings of the joint commission will be focused on how to put into practice the articles of the agreements signed by the two countries.

“Considering that a delegation comprised of traders, CEOs of the private sector companies, and managers from state-owned companies, are accompanying Mr. Zarif, a joint trade assembly of the two countries will be held during this visit,” recounted Mr. Ghasemi. According to Mr. Ghasemi, the assembly will be focused on economy, investment, and trade. He said that the CEOs and managers in Mr. Zarif’s company are from areas like banking, finance and trade, and industry.
