Zarif expressed his hope that the joint commission on bilateral cooperation would be held in good time to deepen relations between the two countries.
Zarif also called for the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries as the basis for the development of bilateral relations in other sectors.
Mfeketo, for his part, emphasizing South Africa's determination to expand and deepen its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, hoped for providing arrangements to facilitate South African president’s visit to Iran.
In another meeting with Iranian officials, Mfeketo met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari and examined the latest status of bilateral economic and political cooperation.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the growing trend of cooperation in various economic and technical fields and emphasized the need to eliminate the remaining barriers and to pave the way for further success of the new round of Economic Commission and the upcoming visit of Iran’s president to Pretoria.
Mfeketo and Jaberi Ansari, in addition to bilateral issues, underlined the cooperation between the two countries in various regional and international areas, including the protection of the rights of the Palestinian people, the opposition to instrumental use of human rights, the confrontation with terrorism and extremism, the political solution to the crisis in Syria and other regional and international issues.
