Renowned and title-holder wrestlers have been convoked to comprise freestyle and Greco-Roman squads of Iran who will take part at the Wrestling World Championships at AccorHotels Arena in Paris.
Iran’s hopes in the Greco-Roman division are pinned on Mehrdad Mardani (59kg), Hossein Elyasi (66kg), Mohammadali Geraei (71kg), Saeid Abdvali (75kg), Yousef Ghaderian (80kg), Hossein Noori (85kg), Seyed Mostafa Salehizadeh (98kg) as well as Shahab Ghoorejili (130kg).
Greco-Roman team will be headed by Ali Ashkani as head coach and supervised by Mohammd Delirian.
Meanwhile, Reza Atri (57kg), Behnam Ehsanpour (61kg), Meysam Nasiri (65kg), Mostafa Hosseinkhani (70kg), Peyman Yarahmadi (74kg), Hossein Yazdani (86kg), Amir Mohammadi (97kg) in addition to Yadollah Mohebbi (125kg) will represent Iran in freestyle category.
Mohammad Talaei will accompany the Persian freestylers in the prestigious international tournament.
As per the schedule announced by United World Wrestling, the international governing body for the sport of amateur wrestling, Greco-Roman athletes will compete for medals on August 21-22 while freestylers will meet rivals on August 25-26.
