“It is known to everybody that the Syrians abandoned their chemical weapons in an agreement with the UN and therefore there is no chemical weapon owned by the Syrian government,” said the Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Friday, in reaction to the unilateral US missile attack to a Syrian air base in Homs Province.
The senior MP then reasoned that an army resorts to chemical weapons when it is near its defeat while the Syrian army is currently in its best conditions, have liberated Aleppo and is liberating other areas.
“The winner side does not need to resort to chemical weapons not to mention the fact that the Syrian government does not have any chemical weapon," he noted.
“The terrorists have already shown that they are afraid of nothing to use chemical weapons,” he accused the terrorists of using the chemical weapons.
“The claim that Assad government has used chemical weapons is a de facto lie and the US and its European and regional allies, who have been defeated in the last 6 years in Syria, are using this accusation as an excuse to create media hype for covering up the public opinion and send the file to the UNSC,” Boroujerdi added.
He also reminded that the attack is inconsistent with Trump’s campaign slogans and said that, “it also marks the fall of Trump.”
“This unwise action of the US government will undoubtedly have serious consequences as countries like Russia and Iran will not keep quiet against these kinds of measures which are against the interests of the region,” articulated the Iranian lawmaker.
