“As the only recent victim of mass use of chemical weapons (by Saddam in the 80s), Iran condemns use of all WMD (weapons of mass destruction) by anyone against anyone,” Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif posted on his official Twitter account on Friday after the US warships hit areas in Homs province of Syria early on the day.
The Iranian foreign minister highlighted the logistic and propagandistic support of the US while Saddam was using chemical weapons against the Islamic Republic of Iran and condemned the hypocrisy of Americans to use cover-up stories for attacking their enemies.
“US aided Saddam in use of chemical weapons against Iran in 80's; then resorted to military force over bogus chemical weapons allegations: 1st in 2003 and now in Syria,” reads the second part of his message on his Twitter account.
“Not even two decades after 9/11, US military fighting on the same side as al-Qaida and ISIL in Yemen and Syria,” Zarif reviews the way the US government frames the realities of the region and calls for an end to double standard hypocrisy in dealing with terrorism. “Time to stop hype and cover-ups,” he concluded.
