Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway Company for Operation Affairs Hossein Ashouri said travel time remained as a major concern for goods owners saying “Iran Railways (abbreviate RAI) has therefore sought to slash the transit time in a bid to boost willingness of shippers to transport cargos through rail.”
“Launch of scheduled train trips has helped reduce travel time from Srakahs to Bandar Abbas as the distance of 1,620 kilometers between the two cities is now covered in less than three days.”
The official rejoiced to say that RAI has set a satisfactory record in transference of goods in the ongoing Iranian year as relocation of fertilizers, mazut and aluminum grew by 20, 200 and 20 per cent, respectively.
Ashouri recalled that cotton was displaced from Uzbekistan, fuel oil from Turkmenistan and aluminum from Tajikistan to Bandar Abbas.
The RAI official further noted that transit volume of a variety of wood products from Turkey to Nakhchivan had also experienced a 52% growth.
He observed that sulfur was the only product transportation of which had declined the reason being the plunge in global prices of the product; “Turkmenistan has halted transit of sulfur.”
Hassan Ashouri further touched upon goods transit from north to south of Iran saying “a variety of foods, edible oils, sugar, detergents are being transported to Central Asian countries the volumes of which have remained constant.”
