Zarif hails Venezuela's efforts for stabilizing oil market

TEHRAN, Feb. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Mohammad Javad Zarif said efforts made by Venezuela have been one of the factors of stabilizing oil prices at their current state.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remark in a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Eloína Rodríguez and Minister of Petroleum Nelson Martinez on Tuesday in Tehran.

During the meeting, Zarif voiced satisfaction with the level of bilateral ties between Iran and Venezuela, and thanked Caracas for its efforts as the head of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Zarif also expressed Iran’s readiness for supporting international cooperation in line with de-escalating tensions and continuation of the agreement on oil prices which helps preserve the interests of OPEC and non-OPEC Member States.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, for her part, noted that the visit of her delegation to Tehran comes within the framework of periodic trips aimed at holding discussions with Iranian officials on oil issues and NAM-related topics.

Venezuela assumed the three-year rotating presidency of NAM from Iran at the 17th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in September 2016.

Rodríguez described her country’s relations with Iran as ‘strategic’, adding “as the president of the Non-Aligned Movement, Venezuela voices its strong solidarity with the great Iranian nation and believes that all the threats leveled against the Islamic Republic will not cause any harm to the Iranian people.”

The high-ranking Venezuelan delegation is also slated to hold talks with Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh.
