'US power of persuasion less than before'

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (MNA) – President Rouhani underlined that NAM member states should collaborate to play a more influential role in regional and international issues.

Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez and Oil Minister Nelson Martinez on Wednesday.

Pointing to the necessity of the role of non-aligned movement, Rouhani underlined that the member states of NAM should join hands to play a more active role in resolving regional and international issues.

President Rouhani highly regarded the commonalities between Iran and Venezuela over many significant international issues, and said independence and resistance against countries that pursue unilateralism in world is among the principles of Iran and Venezuela’s foreign policy, as two sovereign nations.

“The world today requires the independent countries, especially Non-Aligned members, while relying on their peoples, act in unity against unilateralism, extremism and violence,” Rouhani stressed.

Rouhani also pointed to the successful steps of oil-producing countries in Algeria meeting and said “OPEC and non-OPEC oil-producing countries must try to stabilize oil prices for producers and consumers.”

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez, for her part, submitted President Nicolas Maduro’s message to President Rouhani, saying Caracas is determined to deepen its relations with Tehran in all fields.

Rodriguez pointed to the issue of oil and Algeria meeting and said “all oil-producing countries should work to implement Algeria agreement, to balance the market and stabilize oil prices.”
