The official draw ceremony for the Asian event was convened in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday for Iran to learn its rivals.
The sportive tournament is scheduled to be competed in Pantai Batu Buruk, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia from March 4 to 11. The tournament was originally scheduled for 21–29 January 2017, but was postponed.
Accordingly, the Iranian beach soccer outfit will play against Bahrain, China, Malaysia and Afghanistan in Group A.
Group B however comprises title-defender Oman along with Lebanon, Uzbekistan, and Thailand. Japan, runner-up to Oman in 2015, as well as 2007 and 2008 champion United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq and Qatar have been drawn in Group C.
The group winners and the best second-placed team from the three groups will qualify for the semi-final, the winners of which will advance to the final.
The top three teams will secure tickets to the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas which is slated to kick off on April 27.
