The Iranian men's national beach soccer team defeated Switzerland in the quarterfinals match of the 2017 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas. The event kicked off at 03:00 A.M. Tehran Time on Friday.
The victory opened the semi-final door to the Iranian squad for the first time in the history of the beach soccer competitions.
While Iranians opened the scoreboard with Mohammad Ahmadzadeh’s goals at 3'54" and 13'57", the Swiss retaliated with goals scored by Dejan Stankovic at 16'22" and Glenn Hodel at17'50".
At 22'05" Hodel scored the third goal for the Swiss to put the European squad on the lead but Nazem managed to equalize late at 35'03" and three minutes later Mokhtari scored the winning goal for Iranians at 38'09" to give Iran a thrilling victory.
To get into the final event of the tournament, Iranian players have to defeat Tahiti in the semi-finals on Saturday.
