Bahram Ghasemi’s response came on Monday morning for the sentence for leader of designated Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society; “unfair trial and extreme violence resorted to in dealing opposition leaders which had been leading a peaceful conduct will not contribute to betterment of the situation, and will erode hopes of more moderation among the proponents of softer measures against the autocratic government of Al-Khalifa regime,” he told the press.
“Providing military bases for foreign powers and paying for foreign forces’ costs of operation in bases from the public purse will not secure any stability for Bahrain; the annals of the past is replete with the examples where governments relied on their people’s power in securing national unity; Bahrain rulers should learn lessons from such examples,” Ghasemi recommended.
