EU after long-run relations with Tehran: Ghasemi

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi commented on European Parliament’s voting yes to reopening of political, economic and human rights relations between with Iran.

“The European Parliament, endorsing the so-called EU strategy after the Iran’s nuclear deal, is after renormalization and expansion of long-term relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Bahram Ghasemi, the Spokesperson of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, on Tuesday after the news of Strasburg talks were released, “this shows the positive will of the European entity for extending and deepening all-out bilateral relations with Iran.”

Ghasemi described the resolution as a demonstrator of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s regional and international influence on extending and establishing peace, security and stability in the region and stressed on Iran’s constructive contribution to resolving regional crises and fighting terrorism especially the ISIL and similar terrorist groups. He underlined development of ties in all areas of politics, economy, energy, science, education, research, and environment.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran expects the European Parliament to act in harmony with post-JCPOA era’s necessities and be free from political mayhem of propaganda makers to draft specified solutions for developing and bolstering relations,” contended the Iranian diplomat, “there are items in the report that do not fit the realities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stem from Europeans’ different cultural views which focusing on them would not help the expansion of ties.”

He underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always called for apolitical approach to human rights’ issues and has decried imposing double-standard views on them.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready, in line with the policy of interaction with the others and approximation of ideas, to elucidate the Islamic laws related to human rights in a dialogue and exchange of ideas at a calm atmosphere,” asserted Ghasemi.

He also touched upon Iran’s missile program and fire-testing of the missiles and reassured that the moves are in frame of the defensive policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ghasemi ascertained that defensive capabilities are not negotiable and open to compromise. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran was the first country to warn the world about terrorists’ threats and formation of Takfiri terrorist groups like the ISIL. He asserted that Iran has never underdone in fighting terrorism.

“While the resolutions passed by the European Parliament are not enforceable, however, they should reflex a constructive and realistic approach,” maintained the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “As the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been willing to have dialogue with reciprocal respect, certainly the second round of political and human rights talks between the officials of the EU and Iran in November is a proper move toward nearing approaches and increasing interactions between the two sides.”
