Health Min. in Moscow to sign tech deal

TEHRAN, Sep. 28 (MNA) – Health minister has arrived in Saint Petersburg heading a high-ranking delegation of medical technology on Wednesday.

Hassan Hashemi will reportedly sign 15 protocol, deal, and documents related to Iran-Russia tech cooperation. Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation will receive Hashemi in meetings to improve tech and medical cooperation which will include medical equipment and to sign 12 other private sector deals in Moscow on Thursday.

No less important in Hashemi’s visit to Russia is inauguration of an assembly line of a medication patented by Iranians known as Fingolimod, an immunomodulating drug, mostly used for treating multiple sclerosis (MS) which is planned to be produced in Saint Petersburg, to which Iran’s ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Senaei will also attend. Hashemi also will discuss bilateral cooperation in health and treatment, medical facilities and technology, exchange and share of knowledge and experiences by both sides, and new grounds of relations to transform medical relations with Russia.

In December 2015 a Russian delegation visited Iran along President Vladimir Putin where both sides laid the foundations of further cooperation in medicine. During the visits, a joint workgroup on pharmaceuticals was established to address exclusively the medical ties. Health minister will also pay a visit to country’s highly advanced brain center along with a meeting with Iranian medical community in Russia. The total deal signed is worth $ 50bn and will include projects in both countries.
