National snooker team leaves for UAE

TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) – Iran’s national snooker team left Iran for the UAE to attend the 2016 Asian Team Event & 5th 6-Red Championship to be held in Abu Dhabi.

The 4th Asian Team Event & 5th 6-Red Championship will be held in Abu Dhabi of UAE from 18th to 26th May 2016 while the Iranian squad will take part in the continental sportive event comprising Soheil Vahedi, Amir Sarkhosh, Saeid Abulesani as well as Hamed Zaredust.

National snooker players of Iran will face rivals from Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hong Kong on the first day of the tournament on Wednesday.

The previous edition of the Asian event was held in the beautiful Iranian island of Kish where Iran’s Soheil Vahedi and Ehsan Heidarnejad finished first and runner-up respectively in 6-Red individual event.

Also in 2015, Amir Sarkhosh and Soheil Vahedi claimed the title in the team event with Ehsan Heidarinejad and Ali Gharagozloo landing second.

A total of 14 Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) member countries will participate the both events of 4th Asian Team Event & 5th 6-Red Championship.

All participants will attend the Players, Referees and Delegates meeting that will be held on 17th May at 07.00pm

The first five days will be for 6-Red event and the last four days will be for team event.

It is noteworthy that the four top players of the tourney will be given the chance to play in the Sangsom 6 red Championship in Thailand 2016.
