Iranian pooler eyes gold at World Amateur Snooker C’ship

TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – Soheil Vahedi of Iran will fight for the title of the tournament after defeating Declan Brennan of Northern Ireland 7-6 at the semi-final of World Amateur Snooker Championship.

Soheil Vahedi from Iran’s national squad attending the IBSF World Snooker Amateur Championship underway in Doha of Qatar, gave Declan Brennan of Northern Ireland a 7-6 defeat on Monday to book his place in the final of the competition on Tuesday against Andrew Pagett from Wales.

Vahedi had edge past German Lukas Kleckers 5-4, before battering Michael Judge of Ireland 6-1, to get to the semi-final of the event.

Soheil Vahedi, Amir Sarkhosh, Hamed Zarrehdoust, and Arman Dinarvand made up the men’s squad of Iran while Akram Mohammadi was the sole female participant from Iran. Jahangir Habibzade Dehkordi and Ali Bairi formed the masters of Iran.
