Iran misses 3m dive Olympic quota

TEHRAN, Feb. 23 (MNA) – Competing at the FINA Diving World Cup in Brazil, Iran’s national diving team failed to secure an Olympic spot in the three-meter springboard dive.

Iran’s three-member diving squad is in Rio de Janeiro participating at the 20th FINA Diving World Cup as the last opportunity to qualify for 2016 Olympic Games.

Headed by Gholamreza Khabirinejad, Iranian divers at the FINA tournament consist of Hamid Karimi, Shahnam Nzarpour as well as Mojtaba Valipour.

Valipour and Karimi only managed to bag 323.75 and 244.70 points at the Men’s three-meter springboard event failing to receive tickets to the Olympics.

ROSSET, Matthieu Rosset of France ranked first in the preliminary stage of Springboard 3M with a total of 464.85 points.

Shahnam Nazarpour will take part at Men’s 10m Platform as Iran’s last chance to find a place at Rio Games.

The 2016 FINA Diving World Cup kicked off on February 19 in Brazilian capital of Rio de Janeiro and will come to an end on February 24.
