National divers clinch 3 medals at Senet Diving Cup

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (MNA) – Iranian divers managed to snatch two gold and one silver medal at the 2016 Senet Diving Cup in the Netherlands.

The fourth and last day of Senet Diving Cup, formerly known as the Eindhoven Diving Cup, was held in the Netherlands on Sunday.

In Men 1m open, Iran’s Mojtaba Valipour and Hamid Karimi reached finals as the first and sixth athletes, respectively.

In the Finals, Valipour managed to win the silver medal with 373.30 points while Karmi only managed to finish in the fourth place with 321.90 points.

Previously, Hamid Karimi and Mojtaba Valipour had claimed the title in Mens 3m Synchro with 350.88 points while Shahnam Nazarpour had received another gold medal for the Iranian squad in Men Platform open.

Accordingly, the national diving team bagged three medals overall and will return home today on Monday.

Senet Diving Cup, formerly known as Eindhoven Diving Cup, is the largest international diving event in Europe. Every year the event takes place the first weekend of February while the 2016 edition was held from 4 until 7 February 2016 in the Netherlands’ Pieter van den Hoogenband swimming stadium attracting 226 athletes from 18 countries.

The Iranian divers are scheduled to leave Tehran for Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on Tuesday February 16 to participate in the qualifying phase for diving at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
