Hossein Jaber Ansari made the remark in a telephone interview to Iran’s state TV channel on Monday, adding “Saudi Arabia faces two contradictory waves in its domestic affairs; one is the demand for change and reform in order to bring the regime out of its pre-modern and primitive state and one is directed by the extremist Takfiri movement that has stemmed from the ideologies and policies governing the Arab nation.”
The Iranian diplomat maintained that the Saudi regime is not faring much better at the regional level, saying at least two progressive waves are moving in opposition to Saudi’s situation; “one of these waves is the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies that has become more powerful and influential in the past few decades.”
Jaber Ansari added that the second wave is the nation's public demands that seeks a democratic change and the realization of justice, freedom and independence, materialized in the form of the awakening movements and Arab spring in the recent years.
“Saudi Arabia functions not as an active agent but rather as a passive agent and constantly seeks to create crisis and thinks up a series of developments that if moved forward, will only cause problems for itself,” he said.
Jaber Ansari stressed that the Islamic Republic does not see itself in a critical situation, adding “Iran has no need for passive, emotional and biased responses and will base its policy on rationality, wisdom and resources of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Ummah."
