A very experienced athlete who had previously won the overall nanquan medal from the World Games in Colombia, Iranian Farshad Arabi could bring the country’s name in the medals table collecting a silver medal on the third day of World Championship held at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
By presenting an astonishing performance in Nandao event, Arabi achieved a score of 9.65 and stood on the silver podium.
In the same event, the Malaysian representative became the champion with 9.67 points while Talukari of Taiwan finished third receiving 9.60 points; Iran’s Taher Ghasemi failed to get any point higher than 9.30.
Farshad Arabi together with Taher Ghasmei will represent Iran in Nanquan event on Monday evening while they had previously bagged a bronze in 2007, 2 silver medals in 2009, a silver in 2011 as well as 2 bronze medals in 2013 World Championship.
In the morning combats, Iranian Mohsen Mohammad Seifi appeared in Sanda section to defeat Van Tai Nguyen of Vietnam rival in two consecutive rounds and will fight against the Ukrainian rival in the quarter-finals.
Seifi had previously defeated the well-known Van Tai Nguyen in two international arenas; namely 2012 AFC Champions and 2013 world finals.
The 13th World Wushu Championships (WWC) is underway from 11th to 18th of November in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Taken place biennially, the World Wushu Championships (WWC), hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), features the highest competitive level within the sport.
The competition events of the 13th WWC consist mainly of two main disciplines, namely, Taolu and Sanda. Taolu Events include barehand events, weapon events and duel events, which are Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Gunshu, Qiangshu, Nangun, Nandao, Taijijian, Xingyiquan, Baguazhang, Shuangjian, Dadao and Duilian.
Sanda Events include 11 categories for men's events and 7 categories for women's events.
