Speaking at a meeting with Mali’s new Ambassador to Tehran Bobakr. G. Diall on Sunday, the Iranian foreign minister extended his condolences to the Malian government and nation over the death of that country’s Hajj pilgrims in the Mina tragedy.
He expressed the hope that all countries would try and cooperate to prevent recurrence of similar tragic incidents in the future.
Pointing to the issue of terrorism in the region, Zarif said the issue has turned into a severe problem for all countries.
He voiced Tehran’s readiness for cooperation to fight against terrorism in the region.
The Mali ambassador submitted his copy of credentials to the Iranian foreign minister and expressed condolences to him, as well as Iranian government and nation on Mina incident.
Pointing to the death of 200 Malian citizens in Saudi Arabia, Diall said the country lost the greatest number of pilgrims during Hajj this year than any South African country.
He also described the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and 5+1 as a great achievement.
Inviting Zarif to visit Mali, he voiced concerned over the spread of terrorism to some parts of Mali and asked for Iran’s cooperation in the fight against the issue.
