Iranian Film Scoops Up Dubrovnik Festival Awards

TEHRAN May 31 (MNA) -- The Iranian film “Silence of the Sea” directed by Vahid Musa’iyan grabbed the Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay Awards at the Second Dubrovnik International Film Festival held from May 27 until May 30 in Croatia.

The film tells the story of a young Iranian man who lives for years as an immigrant in Sweden. Suddenly he loses all his possessions and decides to return to Iran.

 

The film recently won the grand prize at the Manheim Church. It is also due to participate in the Salento International Film Festival which will be running from September 19 until September 27 in Italy.

 

Croatian filmmaker Kristo Papic won the Best Director Award for his “Infection” while the Best Documentary Award of the festival went to “Rave Against the Machine” made by Richard Rudy and James Harvey from the UK.

 

The U.S. director Talmage Cooley also received the Best Short Film Award for “Pol Pot’s Birthday”.
