45,000-Ton Vessels Berthed in Shahid Kalantari Pier, Chabahar

TEHRAN May 17 (MNA) -– The General Director of the Harbors and Shipping Organization of Sistan Baluchistan Province said the depth of the berthing harbor with the implementation of dredging operations at the Shahid Kalantari pier, is now 12.8 meters. Vessels weighing 45,000 tons are now capable of berthing along Shahid Kalantari pier.

Detailing the measures implemented to facilitate the handling of shipped commodities, Mohsen Mohammadi Mo’in said that equipping the pier for the unloading and loading of commodities as well as opening the first phase of the container yard have facilitated the loading and unloading of 45,000-ton vessels and containers.

 

Currently the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines has authorized two containers to berth along Chabahar harbor at regular 15-day intervals to load and unload shipped goods.

 

He noted that the total cost of dredging Shahid Kalantari pier amounted to $9 million.
