6 Iranian boxers to compete at World Youth Championships

TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA) -- Six Iranian boxers will compete at the 2012 AIBA World Youth Championships in Armenia.

“We will participate in the competitions to end our medal drought. The boxers are well prepared for the event but they are inexperienced,” Iran coach Akbar Ahadi said.

The Iranian boxers are as follows:
Hooman Toghani (49kg), Mohammad Mardi (52kg), Parviz Karam Zehi (60kg), Salar Tahmasebi (69kg), Siavash Omidi (81kg), Milad Roshanzade (+91kg)

The 2012 AIBA World Youth Championships will be contested across ten weight categories from light-flyweight to super-heavyweight.

A total of 406 boxers from 71 countries will compete in the competitions.

The AIBA World Youth Championships as a ranking tournament will take place in Yerevan from November to December 7.

The AIBA Youth World Championships held every two years, began in 1979 in Yokohama, Japan. Formerly called the AIBA World Cadet Championships, the AIBA Youth World Championships is the most prestigious event for young boxers of 17-18 years-old.
