$426m exports to Iraq via Khuzestan

TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – Over 1.4 million tons of goods worth over $426 million have been exported to Iraq via Khuzestan province’s border from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2009).

The products exported to Iraq are mainly comprised of constructional material, petrochemicals, agricultural, industrial goods, and handicrafts, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

 

The value of trade between Iran and Iraq is foreseen to reach $4.2 billion by March 2010, according to the Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines reports.

 

Iran and Iraq signed $200 million worth of contracts during the Iraqi delegation's visit to Tehran in October.

 

Iraq is one of the main markets for Iranian goods. Iran exported $2.26 billion worth of goods to Iraq during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2009). The two-way trade stood at $4 billion last year.
