Turkish premier to meet Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (MNA) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who has arrived in Tehran last night will meet with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad today.

On his arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport last night, Erdogan was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

 

Today’s morning, Erdogan was officially welcomed by First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi at the presidential office. And then the two sides will have closed-door talks on regional and international issues focusing on enhancing bilateral ties.

 

Thereafter, he will meet with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and some other ministers and high-ranking officials.

 

During his two-day stay in Iran, the Turkish prime minister is scheduled to meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as well.

 

He will also attend a joint economic meeting between Iran and Turkey, and a press conference as well as meeting with numbers of Iranian merchants and tradesmen in the Iranian chamber of commerce.

 

Twenty Turkish MPs and Turkey’s ministers of foreign affairs, energy, foreign trade, culture, environment, and industry, eighty representatives of private sectors as well as 30 media representatives are accompanying Erdogan on his trip to Tehran.

 

The visit by the Turkish delegation, which is composed of 200 high-ranking political and economic officials, is of great importance.

 

It is the Turkish prime minister’s second trip to Iran over the past four years.

 

Ahead of his visit to Iran, Erdogan traveled to Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day trip and met with Pakistani officials in Islamabad.
