Ambassador says China seeks closer ties with Iran

BANDAR ABBAS, Apr. 17 (MNA) – China wants to further expand its relations with Iran and its embassy in Tehran is ready to increase cooperation between the two countries’ ports, said China’s ambassador to Tehran on Thursday.

Xie Xiaoyan made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Hormuzgan Ports and Shipping Department, Mohammad Reza Ashkriz, in Shahid Rajaee Port Complex.

 

Xiaoyan said the fact that China is Iran’s main trade partner shows the significance of increasing relations.

 

He also made a reference to the Iranian first vice president’s visit to China, saying he is to hold a meeting with Chinese premier.

 

First Vice President Parviz Davoudi, leading a high ranking delegation, is now in China to attend Boao Annual Economic Forum in Beijing that began on Friday and will last until Sunday.

 

Ashkriz said Shahid Rajaee Port Complex has trade exchanges with 86 ports worldwide and that most of them have trade exchanges with China.

 

He said most equipment in Shahid Rajaee Port Complex has been imported from China, adding that 2 Chinese groups are currently staying here to assemble the equipment.

 

This port complex is an important location in South-North corridor, he said, adding that it plays an important role in exchanging goods to neighboring countries.
