Gharibabadi recalls 1953 coup as US-UK meddling

TEHRAN, Aug. 19 (MNA) – Iran's deputy foreign minister marked the anniversary of the 1953 coup, calling it "direct U.S. and British interference in the Iranian nation's right to self-determination."

Kazem Gharibabadi wrote on social media, "Foreign intervention in the fate of a nation, under whatever name, is colonialism and aggression against the people's right to sovereignty. Generations pass, but one truth does not change: a country that hands its destiny to foreigners will pay a heavy price."

He added, "But Iran today determines its own destiny. Our nation does not retreat under pressure."
