The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks late on Friday hours after the UK government announced that it would allow the US to fly missions from British bases to bomb Iranian missile sites over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement came after UK ministers met, confirming Prime Minister’s Keir Starmer’s agreement for the US to use British sites in the war against Iran.
“Vast majority of the British People do not want any part in the Israel-US war of choice on Iran. Ignoring his own People, Mr. Starmer is putting British lives in danger by allowing UK bases to be used for aggression against Iran. Iran will exercise its right to self-defense,” Araghchi said in a post on X.
The US and the Israeli regime launched their joint military aggression on Iran on February 28, following their previous war in June last year. Both conflicts were launched as Tehran was in the midst of diplomatic talks with Washington over its peaceful nuclear program.
