Iran, Russia ties boost regional economy: minster

TEHRAN, Sep. 24 (MNA) – Iranian minister of industry, mine and trade says that the strategic relations between Tehran and Moscow is a factor of the development of the regional economy, especially Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Speaking in a meeting with the deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation, Mohammad Atabak emphasized accelerating the implementation of agreements inked between the two countries.

Praising the responsible positions of Russia in defending Iran's inalienable rights in international bodies, Atabak stated that relations between Iran and Russia have always played a decisive role in regional politics and economics.

Iran's presence as an observer member of the EAEU is growing, and friendly and like-minded countries, together, will be able to create an economic and commercial hub, Atabak underlined.

Iran is ready to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation, he said, adding, "Given the political will of the two countries to expand and develop relations, vast economic capacities, and history of long-standing trade relations between the nations, it is entirely possible to increase the volume of trade exchanges to several times.”

Iranian businessmen and the private sector are ready to expand trade relations with Russia, the industry minister stated.
