Bin Salman concerned about escalation of regional crisis

TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – In a meeting with the Iranian foreign minister on Wednesday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed deep concern over the escalation of crisis in the region and the spread of war.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, earlier on Wednesday as the first leg of his new regional tour to the countries of the region on Wednesday.

While in Riyadh, he met with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

In the meeting, the Saudi crown prince voiced deep concern about the escalation of the crisis and the spread of war in the region, stressing the need for all countries in the region to protect regional stability and security.

Expressing his satisfaction with the proper implementation process of the agreements between the two countries over the past year, bin Salman assessed the improvement in bilateral relations as positive and tangible. He stated that, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined to continue this process in bilateral relations."

Araghchi, for his part, pointed to neighborliness and prioritizing ties with neighbors as the definitive policy of President Masoud Pezeshkian's government. He noted that the continuation of the policy of expanding relations with neighbors in order to strengthen regional stability, security and prosperity and increase economic cooperation with regional countries is one of the top priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Referring to the developments in the region and his recent consultations in Lebanon and Syria, the Iranian foreign minister called for the cooperation of all the countries in the region and the use of everyone's capabilities to immediately stop the military attacks of the Zionist regime and prevent the destruction of the infrastructure of Gaza and Lebanon.

He stated that standing up to the crimes of the Zionist regime and immediately stopping the war in the region is necessary to achieve stability and sustainable security in the region.

In this meeting, the two officials also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and consultations between the two countries on bilateral and regional issues.

He had also held talks with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan. 

After finishing Saudi trip, Araghchi  left Riyadh for Doha, Qatar, in order to consult about regional developments, especially the developments in Gaza and Lebanon.
