Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Konstantin Kolpakov stated, "Thanks to the accession of new countries to the group, the geography of the participants of this event has also expanded. Today we expect guests from 40 countries, and the total number of delegates reaches 110 people".
He added that not only participants from BRICS+ countries will arrive, but also representatives of other countries interested in expanding cooperation with the association.
The theme of this year's forum is "The Role of Youth Diplomacy in Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security". The organizers believe that the dialogue between young representatives of the foreign ministries of BRICS members and their partners lays the foundations for the future strengthening of interstate ties.
"As a result of our meetings, new initiatives are born. We plan to adopt a final document at the forum in Ufa, which will then be handed over to the foreign ministries of the countries from which the participants come," Konstantin Kolpakov said.
The program will include sessions devoted both to youth cooperation and to the priorities of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship. In addition, the young diplomats will meet with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Bashkortostan, and get acquainted with the history and culture of the peoples of the region.
Margarita Bolycheva, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, reminded that the Young Diplomats Forum is not the first event under the aegis of BRICS to be hosted by Ufa. Earlier, the city hosted a meeting of the heads of the supreme audit bodies of the association's members.
She noted that the forum will be held on the eve of the 450th anniversary of the capital of Bashkortostan. Foreign delegations will arrive in the city on this occasion.
"Young diplomats are among the most important guests of the celebration. We will show them the opportunities and achievements of the republic," Margarita Bolycheva emphasized.
She said that Bashkortostan is one of Russia's leaders in attracting investments. In particular, Chinese companies are actively working in the region.
The BRICS+ Young Diplomats Forum is not the only event in 2024, which is attended by representatives of the foreign ministries of the association's members and partners. On 4-6 September, on the margins of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the V Dialogue of Young Diplomats of the Asia-Pacific Region will take place. The event will be attended by representatives of the Russian Federation, China, and ASEAN countries.
