Iran, Syria sign free trade deal: VP

TEHRAN, Dec. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber has said that the trade tariff between Iran and Syria was removed by signing the free trade deal between the two countries.

In a joint press conference with Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous at Sadabad Palace in Tehran on Saturday, Mokhber termed establishing regular navigation and developing transportation between Iran and Syria as one of the achievements of negotiations between the two countries.

Strengthening ties with Syria is among Iran’s strategies that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has always emphasized and Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has perused it, he noted.

Referring to President Raeisi’s visit to Syria, Mokhber underlined that good developments occurred between Iran and Syria, and added that Iran will follow up on the signed agreements between the two countries.

Meetings of the 15th round of the Syrian-Iranian Higher Committee between Iran and Syria took place after a long hiatus and six documents were signed, including free trade agreements, memorandums of understanding in the fields of tourism, museums, media, and library.

Heading a high-profile delegation, Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous arrived in Tehran on Friday evening at the invitation of Iran's Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.
