Iran flicks hope to thrill at Cinemanila

TEHRAN, Aug. 1 (MNA) -- Iranian films “Beautiful City” directed by Asghar Farhadi and “Deep Breath” directed by Parviz Shahbazi are entries to the Cinemanila International Film Festival, which is currently underway in the Philippine capital Manila.

 

The festival opened today in the Southeast Asian country and runs until August 31.

 

 

Playwrights to recite Constitutional Movement era dramas

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian playwrights Mohammad Rahmanian, Hamid Amjad, and Mohammad Charmchir are to hold recitals of plays dating back to Iran’s Constitutional Movement era (1905-1911).

 

The series begins on August 5 and will be held every Saturday at the Honar Cultural Center, which is located on Jolfa St., near Shariati Ave., north of the Seyyed Khandan Bridge.

 

 

Film editor Iraj Golafshan dies at 68

 

TEHRAN -- Veteran Iranian film editor Iraj Golafshan died of a heart attack on Monday. He was 68 years old.

 

Golafshan is to be buried in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery tomorrow after a ceremony at the Iranian Artists Forum.

 

 

Niavaran Palace to host guitar concerts

 

TEHRAN -- Mehrdad Pakbaz plans to hold open-air classical guitar concerts at Tehran’s Niavaran Palace on August 24 and 25.

 

Pakbaz will perform some of his latest works, which are to be released by Iran’s Hermes Records in the near future.
