Iran gains 5 medals at 2018 World Poomsae C’ships

TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – Iranian practitioners bagged one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals during the first two days of 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Taipei.

In women’s team category of over 30 (age), the Iranian team snatched the world title by winning South Korea in the final. France and the US won two bronze medals of this category.

In women’s individual category of under 40, Iran’s Atousa Farahmand settled for silver after suffering a defeat to South Korea’s Meehyun Kim in the final. Rosalynn Le of the USA and Charlotte Pedersen of Denmark pocketed bronze medals.

In cadet women’s team category, the Iranian team comprised of Yasaman Limouchi, Zeinali Parastoo, and Sanaz Taghipour gained the bronze medal. Outplaying Taipei in the final, South Korea claimed the world title. The other bronze of this category went to Vietnam.

Also, women’s junior team of Iran grabbed the bronze medal of their category. Again South Korea won the gold and Taipei got the silver while Thailand bagged the other bronze.

Earlier on Thursday, in men’s team category of over 30, Iran settled for the bronze medal. South Korea defeated the Philippines in the final and the USA won the other bronze.

The 2018 edition of World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships kicked off on November 15 in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei. Some 1270 practitioners from 54 countries are participating in the event which will end on November 18.
