Export from Amirabad port up by 35%

TEHRAN, Jul. 08 (MNA) – Director of Amirabad Port Special Economic Zone Siyavash Rezvani said that diversity of export of 15 products in this port increased export volume of Iranian goods from this port based in the Caspian Sea up by 35 percent.

Speaking on the sidelines of International Hydrographic Conference, he said, “over 400,000 tons of Iranian products [including cement, citrus fruits, gas, construction materials, fresh fruits, tomato paste and clinker] were exported from this port in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), showing a considerable growth as compared to the same period of last year.

By exerting port discounts, “we are after diversifying a part of Iranian export portfolio,” he said, adding, “provinces of Mazandaran, Gilan and Golestan are home to the production of kitchen gardens and citrus fruits in the country, so that there is suitable condition for export of these products from northern ports of the country.”

He put the discounts in Amirabad Port for export of domestic products at 25 percent and said, “with the coordination made in this regard, new tariffs for export of Iranian products from northern ports will be announced in this prestigious Conference.”

The aforementioned Conference on export promotion in Amirabad Port via the Caspian Sea will be held on July 11-12 in this port in the presence of representatives from the Caspian Sea littoral states and also officials at Ports and Maritime Organization (MPO).

Introducing export capacity and investment incentives in Amirabad Port has been cited as the most important objective behind organizing this Conference, he maintained.

To materialize objectives of this Conference, Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken effective measures in the countries including Russia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Rezvani emphasized.

He put the annual capacity of the port in the Caspian Sea at 7.5 million tons and said, “about 4.5 million tons of goods is loaded and unloaded in this port per annum on average.”
