Iranian firms poised to develop power, energy projects in Congo

TEHRAN, Jun. 15 (MNA) – In his meeting with Foreign Minister of Republic of Congo, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi announced that Iran is ready to develop power and energy projects in this African country.

In this regard, Iranian technical and engineering companies are interested in having strong presence in power and energy generation projects as well as other infrastructural projects of this country.

For his part, Congolese foreign minister said that his country is ready to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various political and economic fields.

Sarmadi placed special emphasis on the significant position of African countries in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said, “with the coordination made in this regard, Iranian technical and engineering companies will participate in development of power and energy projects in the Republic of Congo.”

In the same direction, the two sides called on the international community to counter unilateralism and violation of international obligations.

Moreover, the two sides also discussed about oil cooperation and membership of the Republic of Congo in Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Earlier, foreign minister of Republic of Congo had met with Iranian Oil Minister Zanganeh.
