Iran to step up developing missile power

TEHRAN, May 26 (MNA) – Brigadier General Amir Hatami pointed to Iran’s high defense capabilities and potentials, saying that “the country will accelerate the development of its missile program" unhindered by US sanctions.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony for the National Dezful Day on May 25, commemorating the resistance of Dezful´s citizens during the Iran–Iraq War of 1980-88, Iranian Denfese Minister Amir Hatami said that “US pullout from JCPOA will have no effect on Iran’s defense industry.”

Iran has always been faced with severe sanctions, he said, adding, “even in implementation of the JCPOA, sanctions were not lifted but rather replaced by restrictions.”

Iran will continue to meet all its nation's demands through relying on its great scientific, human, infrastructural and industrial capacities, Hatami maintained.  

Hatami stressed that the US sanctions would cause no problems for the development of Iran's defense industry of the country.

When asked to comment about the possibility of negotiations on Iran's missile program, the defense minister vehemently dismissed any possibility, stressing that Iran would not negotiate with any country on its missile and defense power.
