TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) -- Bahman Qobadi’s award winning “Turtles Can Fly” recently won two more awards.

It received the “Golden Prometheus” for the best film at the Tbilisi International Film Festival and the Children’s Rights Award at the Osnabruck Film Festival held in Georgia and Germany respectively. The film had already received 34 international awards. “Turtles Can Fly” tells the story of people from a village in Iraqi Kurdistan bordering Iran and Turkey who are desperately searching for a satellite dish in order to keep updated on the imminent U.S. attack on Iraq.  


Works by Iranian photographers displayed in U.S.  


TEHRAN -- Works by Iranian photographers Hashem Javadzadeh and Mehdi Fat’hi were displayed at the International exhibition held by the Photographic Society of America. The works were displayed in California, Arizona, and Miami. The award winning images are available at www.psaexhibition.com. 



Hatamikia to shoot “Green Ring” in November


TEHRAN -- Director Ebrahim Hatamikia’s TV series “Green Ring” is in preproduction stage now. Hamid Farrokhnejad plays in the series. Producer Pirhadi had already announced that the series is based on a social issue analyzing human interactions.



Iranian cartoonists to compete in Poland’s SATYRYKON 


TEHRAN -- Four Iranian cartoonists have submitted works for the SATYRYKON 2005 International Exhibition, an open competition to be held in Poland. The objects of the competition are drawings, graphics and other works of fine arts and photography completed within the past two years. Roxana Manuchehri, Nazi Tahvili, Mahmud Nazari, and Kazem Hosseini are the Iranian artists competing with cartoonists from twenty-three other countries.



Rahbari to conduct Mahler symphony in Tehran


TEHRAN -- The Tehran Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ali Rahbari, plans to give a performance of Austrian composer Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in Tehran. Rahbari recently conducted a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Vahdat Hall. Ali Rahbari will also be conducting a performance of the opera “Mani and Mana” composed by Hossein Dehlavi.
