Iran, Canada to hold meeting at expert level

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday that Canada and Iran will hold another meeting at expert level to discuss consular services to Iranian citizens and Canadians in both Tehran and Canada adding “the first step will be the establishment of an embassy’s foreign interest section.”

Bahram Ghasemi, Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that given the new developments in today’s world and the Canadian government readiness, they can take more steps in that regard.

Ghasemi hoped for better relations between the two countries, saying “we hope that the Canadian Government now sees Iran's effective role in combating terrorism and stabilizing the region, and takes into account Iranians’ effective presence in Canada, as a highly educated community,” adding “we can take more steps to improve bilateral relations.”

Regarding the mutual visit of Iran and Saudi Arabia consular delegations, Ghasemi said that “it was supposed a technical delegation would be sent by Saudis to visit diplomatic sites in Tehran and Mashhad, and mutually an Iranian delegation would visit our places in Jeddah and Riyadh. Even visas were issued for both delegations by the two sides but the visits have not taken place yet.”
